Are you looking for a home or condo in Oxford? If you are, Oxford real estate is a great place to park your hard earned dollars! This town has so much to offer! From Pat Lamar Park on College Hill Road, near the Country Club subdivision, to some of the newest condos like the luxurious 800 Park condos. There is currently new construction going up in Shelbi’s Place subdivision and boasts some of the most affordable homes in the Oxford area!

If you have decided that you are specifically looking for a home in Oxford, there is literally something for everyone. There are homes for sale in some places that are under $50,000 and homes well over $1,000,000 that go much higher. You will find subdivisions close to parks, as well as golf course neighborhoods such as the ever popular Grand Oaks subdivision. The newer subdivisions near the square right now are Oxford Creek as mentioned above as well as Oxford Commons which is a planned unit development that houses Oxford Schools, a movie theater, bowling alley, service station and more coming as it’s inception was in 2014. If you are looking for homes that are near Ole Miss, there are some amazing subdivision with a lot of character. The first ones that come to mind are University Hills, Garner Heights, and Stone subdivision.

If you are looking for a home near a racquet club, then you may be interested in a home or condo in Wellsgate subdivision. This has been a staple in Oxford for over 10 years with new construction still occurring due to the sheer size of this neighborhood. The huge lake in the middle of the subdivision has also been a huge draw!

Being near the square is always a popular item on a buyers checklist. These homes do come up, though not as often as others different areas. Many of the homes were built in the early to mid 1900’s. A good bit of them have been updated. The homes can vary dramatically in their prices, especially price per square foot due to location being almost a science here! Contact me to discuss any of these neighborhood and we can get started!

If you are searching for some great Lake front property, Oxford has some surprisingly great places to choose from. With homes starting in the $200,000’s, The Lakes community off of Highway 6 East is a great place to start. Then there are places like WellsgateThe Highlands, and Castlehill Estates to name a few. The beautiful lots and lakes make for a magnificent place to call home.

There are a large number of condo choices in Oxford, but depending on how the market is going, there may not be much to choose from! The best times to look for a condo to try and get somewhat of a deal (again depending on how well the market is doing) is to look between October and February. The only challenge with this is that there are usually not as many condos for sale during this time. The reason? That brings me to my next tip. If you want more options to choose from, it is better to start looking for a condo between March-July. As most condo owners start to find out, it’s because most people are looking for a condo to purchase before school starts in August and latest, before football season starts!

I receive many calls from parents of students, alumni, fans of Ole Miss and many times just flat out fans of Oxford! This doesn’t go for all, but man are looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom condo in Oxford that is located reasonably close to the Oxford square as well as the Ole Miss Campus. The following condos are just a few that I usually recommend to them (keep in mind that everyone’s situation is different, therefore my recommendations change as I have more information from you.

Many of the popular condos in Oxford right now are Esplanade Ridge, which is located off Anderson Road, near Jackson Avenue. It has been a popular spot due to it’s location and French style. The price is very reasonable too!

There are some fantastic condos to choose from on Old Taylor Road. Some of the popular names on this road consist of Fleur De LisBrighton Village, and The Mark condos. Fleur de Lis and Brighton Village are pretty much clones of each other. This occurred because of how well Fleur de Lis performed. The builder decided to find more land and build Brighton Village. Highpointe Condos as well as The Soleil Condos are located just off Thacker Road and are fantastic condo neighborhoods as well. They are both gated communities. Highpointe has a swimming pool and the condos are attached, whereas The Soleil does condos are stand-alone condos but don’t have a swimming pool. The Mark condos are fantastic as well and very affordable. You can find them just around $100,000 and up. They have a walking trail, a couple of tennis courts, a workout room, and two swimming pools. Another couple of crowd pleaser’s are Turnberry Condos in Oxford as well as Autumn Ridge. Both of these condos have become more and more popular over the years. In 2015 as soon as one came on the market it seemed to be gone in the blink of an eye!

The University of Mississippi, better known as Ole Miss, is a huge driving force economically for Oxford, Mississippi. As a graduate of Ole Miss in 2007, I have continued to watch this University grow and improve. It has been rewarding to see buildings and programs such as Insight Park that has now been built. Insight Park is meant to be a business hub for startups in the area, encouraging job growth and innovation. There is also the new Center for Manufacturing excellence which is inclusive of The School of Business Administration, Accountancy and Engineering as well. The center is designed to provide students with the necessary professional, leadership, accounting, human resources, management, marketing, communication and manufacturing skills to take with them as they set out for their new profession.

There are of course many other superb academic departments but I wanted to name some of the newest additions to Ole Miss.

Ole Miss has a wonderful sports program with popular events such as Ole Miss Football, Baseball, Basketball, women’s soccer and volleyball, as well as Tennis. If you are looking for some great sports entertainment, there is almost always something going on at the University.

Chances are, you may be one of the many people who come to Oxford once and are completely sold on this amazing quaint and beautiful town. Maybe you visited during Double Decker, a high energy SEC football game in the Grove, or just came for a weekend and perused the downtown Oxford Square. Many people make the decision to own a piece of Oxford when they realize the options that are at their disposal. If you are mainly looking to be near the square, you can be within 4-5 blocks for under $250,000 or so, but if you are looking for a place to rest after a long day and night on the town, there are condos very near the square, like Harrison Square which is the newest Luxury Condo Development being offered right now! High CottonThe Ice House, and The Monroe. These amazing locations are what you would think of when you hear “high rise” condos except these are only a few stories. The similarities lie in the way the condos are set up on different floors with elevators, common areas, parking, and FANTASTIC locations!

The larger and more luxurious condos consist of places like Oak ParkA Southern PlaceBienville Place and Belle Maison. These condos are much larger and have a lot more “elbow room”. It’s for those who greatly appreciate luxury and convenience of location. If you want to feel at home in your “home away from home” lets talk more about these.

There are the happy mediums that are still close to the square and have a price point of $400,000 and up such as Camilla Parc off East Jackson Avenue, 1829 East Jackson Avenue, and then places that are just around a mile or so from the square but closer to the campus as well such as the every popular Provence Park or The Hamlet. Get your search started and get in touch with me next time you feel like visiting one or more of these beautiful condos!

As you may already know, Oxford was voted by many establishments as one of the absolute best places to retire in America. The town has been called “Sophisticated”, “One of the 50 most alive places to live in America”, “rich cultural life” by many of the top publishers such as Fortune Magazine, National Geographic Traveler, and others. Money Magazine even said “Oxford combines a southern lifestyle with the cosmopolitan flair of a college town.” Pretty cool, right? As I walk around the square, I see many retirees enjoying themselves with friends drinking coffee at the local coffee shop, High Pointe Coffee or having breakfast at oldest breakfast spot that I know of, The Beacon. Other places like the Portuguese bakery, Lusa’s bakery with amazing breakfast and lunch plates.

There is also a newcomers club with the local chamber of commerce. The chamber has other programs that may fit your lifestyle as well! There is a beautiful park, near the middle of town, called Pat Lamar Park where you can enjoy a nice walk on a breezy sunny day and walk around the lake or even drop some bait in the water and catch a fish!

The performances that occur at the Ford Center in Oxford are fantastic. They have had performances from all over the world.

Another interesting and exciting program that Ole Miss offers is the lifelong learners program that allows you to take classes at your leisure. I am personally looking forward to this when I retire! As you may already know, Ole Miss has a gorgeous campus with main attractions like the grove and the Ford Center mentioned above. Move to Oxford and see what all the fuss is about!
